BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The new Spartan Stadium will host the Division 4 State Semifinal match-up.
Steubenville will take on Ursuline on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
Even though the Boardman Spartans aren’t playing in the game, Boardman boosters, local businesses, and community members who have contributed to the new stadium project are excited for the event.
“It’s an honor to be chosen for a State Semi-Final Game, there are only 14 of these across the state. It shows that the community’s efforts to build a state of the art facility have been noticed statewide,” said Athletic Director Denise Gorski. This is actually the fourth playoff game hosted at the new stadium, in its very first year.
Gorski said he is hopeful the recognition will encourage donors to come forward in support of the stadium.
The new Spartan stadium is located next to the high school. It has more than 7000 seats, a press box, a 35 foot video board, sound system and turf field.
The project is being completed in three phases. Phase one and two are done, while phase three includes a band shell, additional restrooms and more concessions.
The project is expected to be complete by fall 2016.
