Democratic Party Chair weighs in on Trump’s visit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Donald Trump’s visit to Ohio on Monday is to gain support in the Republican party.

Democrats in the Valley are not sure his visit will have much impact.

While voters think there are many issues that Democrats and Trump don’t agree on, they share similar views on the economy.

“Local economy is an issue that will resonate,” said Mahoning County Democratic Party Chair David Betras.

“I don’t agree with anything else he says, but there are a lot of Democrats that also talk about anti-trade message and these free trade agreements that have just killed us. So he’s not the only game in town when it comes to that issue.”

Betras doesn’t think Trump will make a visit to the Mahoning Valley because of the strong Democratic presence here. He does think Clinton and Sanders will make a visit in the future.
