Hazmat team called out to fire at old steel plant in Warren

WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Hazmat crews were called to the R.G. Steel plant in Warren Township following a fire at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Howland and Warren Township firefighters were called out to the old steel plant along Pine Avenue after a building on the property caught fire.

Trumbull County hazmat was called in shortly after to help because of asbestos in the building.

The fire is out. The extent of the damage is not clear. The cause of the fire is unknown.

There were no injuries reported.
