ELYRIA, Ohio (WKBN) – A Connecticut man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 90 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $450,000, following a traffic stop in Elyria Monday.
According to a press release, troopers stopped a 2002 Dodge Dakota pick-up truck, with Oregon registration, for a moving violation on Interstate 80, near milepost 135, at 3:24 p.m. Police said they observed criminal indicators, although what type of indicators was not specified.
A Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle, and a probable cause search revealed the contraband.
Police charged Terry L. Ward, 51, of Wolcott, Conn., with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both second-degree felonies. If convicted, he could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
