Police: suspect arrested in woman’s fatal stabbing in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Police say they have arrested a woman suspected of fatally stabbing a woman near a bar in central Ohio.

A Columbus police statement says 31-year-old Ivey Sankey of Columbus was arrested Monday on a charge of murder in the stabbing death of 29-year-old Shirley Minnifield.

Police say Minnifield, of Columbus, was stabbed around 1:30 a.m. Monday and died a short time later at a hospital.

Police say the suspect had left the scene by the time they arrived. But police say their investigation led them to Sankey, who was taken into custody later Monday.

It could not be immediately determined Tuesday whether Sankey had an attorney.
