Police to conduct drunk-driving blitz Wednesday in Mahoning Co.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County OVI Task Force announced that there will be an extra police presence on the roadways on Thanksgiving Eve.

On Wednesday, police officers from participating agencies of the Task Force will target a specific location in Mahoning County as part of a “Coordinated Saturation Patrol Blitz,” according to a news release from the Mahoning County OVI Task Force and Canfield Police Department. The release does not list a specific time or location.

Police say the idea behind the blitz is to keep people safe, when there has historically been an increase in vehicles on the roadways as people celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Officers will enforce OVI and seat belt laws. Drivers are encouraged to use taxis, designated drivers and services such as DD For Hire if they plan on drinking.
