HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Two of the TOP ranked teams in Pennsylvania will battle this weekend… for the District Ten Championship. Sharon and Hickory will faceoff on Saturday afternoon.
The first meeting between these two was our Game of the Week back in early September. Sharon won the shootout 35-34, and went on to clinch the Region III Title.
The Tigers have not been beaten on the field this season. The previous meeting was Hickory’s only loss. The Hornets have won each of the last four District Ten titles.
“We like to say if we’re playing well in the playoffs, we’re peaking at the right time,” Head Coach Bill Brest said. “And we’re excited to how we’ve improved from week one to right now. I really like our team’s focus, the coaching staff’s focus.”
Hornet players are equally as excited for the rematch.
“Oh, we’ve been excited all year getting ready for this matchup and we want to get them,” Wide Receiver Joey DeJulia said. “They’re a really good team, we learned a lot about what they did and how they effectively stopped us and we gotta make the adjustments to hopefully get the win this time.”
Hickory Senior and Penn State recruit Andrew Pryts can’t wait to take the field.
“You know I think in the playoffs, every week to week is that same feel that you know this could be our last game,” he said. “You know, nobody wants it to end. So, you know I think it’s a huge game, it’s a great opportunity for our team to you know show who we are.”
Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1PM at Wilmington High School.
