CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A semi-truck ran into a pole in Canfield Wednesday morning, cutting it down and cutting off power to at least one hundred customers, according to First Energy.
The crash happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of U.S. Route 224 and Fairground Boulevard. The truck was making a turn onto Fairground Boulevard when it hit the pole and pulled down some wires.
First Energy’s online outage map states that between 100 and 500 customers are affected by the outage, and the problem should be fixed in the afternoon.
Crews from Ohio Edison are on scene, and are working on replacing the pole and associated electric lines. During the repair process, crews will be shutting down U.S. 224 near Fairground Boulevard four or five times between noon and 6 p.m. Each shut-down will last approximately five minutes, according to police.
Southbound traffic on Fairground will be shut down for a while, according to a release from Canfield Police. The release did not state exactly how long police expect the road to be closed.
