YSU band to play Carnegie Hall

The YSU Wind Ensemble is traveling to New York City to play.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The YSU Dana School of Music wind ensemble is heading to one of the most prestigious places to play. Members left Bliss Hall early Wednesday morning for New York City where they will perform this weekend at Carnegie Hall.

President Tressel stopped by to wish the group well before they departed.

Students say they’ve prepared some of the hardest music they’ve ever played and are excited for the opportunity.

“I think it is special for a university like ours to be recognized on a global scale,” said Madeline Grimes, flute player. “We are unique in the way we have a lot of students from the area.”

The wind ensemble’s performance at Carnegie Hall is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. It is part of the National Festival Chorus concert.
