Season in Review
The Hurricanes opened the 2014-15 season by winning 10 of their first 11 contests. The team featured a number of players who could score in double figures and could shoot the basketball from long distance. Marquel Hooker led the team with a 14.2 scoring average while Robert Natale – who took the honors of having the highest three-point percentage on New Castle (36.3%) – scored 12.3. Freshman Marcus Hooker averaged 10.4 points while Geno Stone compiled a 9.4 average.

In the end, New Castle was bounced from the PIAA Class AAA playoffs in the quarterfinals when they met up with Archbishop Carroll 77-48 at Chambersburg High School. The Hurricanes finished the season with 22 wins overall. That win total marked the fifth straight year that the Hurricanes eclipsed the 20 win plateau.

Key Returnees
Seniors Marquel Hooker (14.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg) and Micah Fulena (7.1 ppg, 5.5 apg) are two of the more experienced players on this year’s New Castle Team. Junior Geno Stone put together a stat line of 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists last winter. Marcus Hooker is back for his sophomore campaign after enjoying much success in his first year on the varsity team. Marcus led the team with a 7.1 rebound average. He also was able to score 10.4 and make 59.8% of his field goals (122-204).
