With the sudden departure of Grove City’s Don Fee, coach Chad Mild is District 10’s winningest active coach with 283 wins. He’ll field a team without Staunch, Andrew Long and Isaac Williams but will have a unit which most feel confident can contend for the district championship once again. Junior guard Gino Demonaco led the team in free throw shooting last with (82.1%) and was able to finish third in three-point percentage (43.5%) and second in scoring (10.9). Seniors Josh Porterfield, Ryan Dogan and Nick Cannone will be asked to continue to contribute at a high level. Porterfield impressed the Big Red faithful by scoring 8.9 points and snagging 6.5 caroms while shooting 54.6% (112-205) from the field. Dogan was a stat sheet filler last season as he averaged 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a team-leading 1.6 steals per contest. Cannone, West Middlesex’s quarterback on the gridiron, scored 4.6 points last year but added 75% on 40 free throw attempts (30 makes).
