NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Valley malls are gearing up for the annual Black Friday blitz Thursday, as customers are sure to storm the stores for the unofficial start of the Christmas and holiday shopping seasons.

Many stores feature sales for the day after Thanksgiving, so called because it helps many stores stay in the black, making a profit.

Eastwood Mall will open Thursday evening at 6 p.m. The first 1,500 people to enter through the Food Court entrance will get bags filled with giveaways, coupons and reindeer gear, and shoppers spotted wearing their reindeer gear will be eligible to win gift cards and other prizes in drawings held every hour on the hour until 2 a.m.

WKBN will be at the Southern Park Mall Thursday evening, reporting on shoppers’ experiences.
