Mincher’s 41 not enough as McDonald edges Springfield

A career high for the Springfield senior wasn't enough as the Blue Devils won, 93-86 in the season opener.

McDonald, OH (WKBN) – Springfield senior Graham Mincher scored a career high 41 points, but McDonald outlasted the Tigers, 93-86 Friday in the season opener for both teams.

It was a close game from start to finish, as the Blue Devils built a double digit lead in the first half. But Springfield came roaring back, thanks in large part to Mincher, to lead 43-40 at halftime.

The second half was much of the same, as Springfield continued to break the full court pressure put on by McDonald. But the Blue Devils wore them down in the end for the victory.

McDonald was led by Evan Magill with 22 points, while Jake Reckard had 17. Four players scored in double figures for both teams.
