PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Pennsylvania State Police have reported a fatal car accident on Interstate 279 in Ross Township.

They say Phillip Mays, 28, of East Liverpool was going around the curve of the Interstate 279 north exit at an unsafe speed.

He crashed into a concrete barrier and utility box, then continued up onto a bridge underpass, where the vehicle came to rest.

His vehicle was found in the High Occupancy Vehicle lane just before 9:00 Sunday morning.

Mays was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS crews.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt, but the airbags did deploy.
