Youngstown Air Reserve Station plans for expansion

Vienna, Ohio Air Reserve Station

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Plans are in the works to make a regional joint readiness center at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

It would involve a cargo facility located on Ridge Rd. across from the air base that’s currently owned by the Western Reserve Port Authority.

State Representative Sean O’Brien is working to turn the property over to the Air Force. Troops would then be processed and shipped out for their missions in cases of emergencies. Equipment such as helicopters and tanks could also be shipped out from the Air Reserve Station.

The project is still in the planning stages. Representative O’Brien is now working with state agencies for funding to convert the building into the readiness center.
