Power outage affects over 4,000 homes

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – FirstEnergy says 4,200 homes in the area were without power Saturday night.

Mark Durbin from Ohio Edison says the outage began just before 7 p.m. and affected 300 in Struthers, 300 in Poland, 1,000 in Campbell and 2,000 in Youngstown.

He says half of those affected, mainly in Youngstown and Campbell, had their power back on by 7:40.

Durbin says there appears to have been a problem with customer equipment causing backfeed into FirstEnergy’s system.

Struthers Police say some traffic lights are affected as well. Drivers should remember to treat these intersections like four-way stops.

Ohio Edison expects to have power restored for its remaining customers by 10 p.m.
