Hermitage celebrates Christmas with ice cream

People in Hermitage celebrate the holiday season and support local businesses with an ice cream event.

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – The people in Hermitage had a unique way of ringing in the holiday season.

Hermitage Cottage Gardens hosted an ice cream event on Sunday.

People of the Shenango Valley came to enjoy sweet treats and sleigh rides. They could also look to buy the perfect Christmas tree.

Not only was the event a great way to get in the holiday spirit, but it was also an opportunity to support local businesses.

“You know, we’re a small, local business and we like to help promote other small, local businesses,” said Ryen Roberts of Hermitage Cottage Gardens. “Cravings, in downtown Sharon, they have Penn State ice cream, and we thought, ‘Hey, it’s going to be sunny and warm, and who’s ever heard of ice cream and Christmas trees?'”

Another big weekend is planned for next week. Roxbury Pizza will be on hand, and Santa Claus might even make an appearance.
