Tuba Christmas concert comes to Stambaugh Auditorium

The Tuba Christmas concert comes to Youngstown to perform at Stambaugh Auditorium.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The community was invited to Stambaugh Auditorium on Sunday to hear carols at the Tuba Christmas show.

The auditorium was packed with people wanting to see the performance of tubas and euphoniums, which are smaller tubas.

The performers ranged in age from 13 to 79, and came from all over Northeast Ohio. One even came all the way from Maryland.

Tuba Christmas concerts are performed in 296 cities all over the country.

“It’s a little different from your normal concert band performance or choir performance,” said Conductor Wes O’Connor. “I mean, it’s not too often that the general public gets to see a mass amount of tubas.”

The idea behind the concert is to promote the instrument.
