Hickory survives Mooney scare

The Hickory girls basketball team celebrates after extending their regular season winning streak to 51-games

HERMITAGE, PA (WKBN)-The Hickory Hornets improved their regular season winning streak to 51-games Monday night coming from behind against Cardinal Mooney 48-45.

The Cardinals had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but their 3/4 court shot fell short giving the Hornets the win.

Trailing by three at the half, Mooney went on a big run in the 3rd quarter to hold the lead for the majority of the quarter, by as many as 8, and led by 2 going into the fourth.

Taylor Martin led the way for the Cardinals with 13 points.

Neely Whitehead led all scorers with 20 points while Marissa DeJulia added 12 points and 8 steals in the winning effort.

The Hornets improve to 3-0 on the season.
