YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Children served by the Beatitude House received an early Christmas gift on Wednesday.

Employees from AT&T’s Boardman call center donated about 15 teddy bears to the home, which helps provide housing and services for women and children in need.

Each of the children in the program will receive a bear with their Christmas gifts. The extra ones will go to new families when they move into the Beatitude House, said Director Sister Mary Alyce Koval.

“So the children will have a little play pal when they move into their new apartment and have some security of having a huggable bear to ease the trauma of homelessness when they come into our program,” Koval said.

This year, some bears were also donated to local police and fire departments for distribution.
