FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN) – A Farrell city councilman was charged with driving under the influence on Tuesday night.
Police stopped Eugene Pacsi, 69, at 7:54 p.m. on Mercer Avenue near Shenango Boulevard for an alleged traffic violation. He was charged with DUI and other traffic-related charges, according to the Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department.
Southwest Regional Police Chief Riley Smoot said an officer witnessed Pacsi driving erratically and crossing the center line. Pacsi failed a field sobriety test at the scene, according to Smoot. A blood test was administered, but results could take up to two weeks. He was released after being issued a summons on the charges.
Pacsi has been a long-time member of city council and has also served as mayor of the city.
Current Mayor Olive McKeithan said she was aware of Pacsi’s charges but said his term on council is ending in two weeks. He was not re-elected.
WKBN reached out to Pacsi but did not get a response on Wednesday night.
