Pedestrian struck, killed on Perry Twp. road

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) — An elderly man was struck and killed while walking along a Perry Township road Tuesday night.

The Ohio State Patrol identified the victim as Edwin George, 77, of Salem.

Police say George was not wearing reflective clothing and was in the eastbound lane of State Route 45 when he was struck by a 2014 Ford Explorer around 9:30 p.m. He was near the intersection of S. Lincoln Avenue.

The driver of the other vehicle and his passenger were not injured.

State troopers say the driver stopped immediately after the crash and remained on the scene until rescue crews arrived.

Speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
