Sharon man charged with taking children’s hospital donation jar

Steven Peirce was arrested in the Shenango Valley Library being charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Sharon Police charged a man Tuesday with stealing a collection jar for a children’s hospital network.

According to a statement, Sharon Police charged Steven Peirce, 27, with two counts of theft and two counts of receiving stolen property, saying he took a jar of money for the Children’s Miracle Network from Speedway at 220 E. Connelly Blvd.

Peirce was located arrested in the area of the Shenango Valley Library.

Peirce was arraigned and taken to the Mercer County Jail. A probation detainer was also placed on Peirce by State Probation and Parole Agents.

Police also said Peirce will be video arraigned on a new charge of institutional vandalism after repeatedly spitting on the partition that separates the prisoner from the police officer.
