Akron Children’s event benefits kids with terminal illness

Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley hosts a holiday luncheon to benefit kids with terminal illness.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A holiday tradition took place on Friday at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.

The Holiday Hopes and Wishes luncheon benefits Akron Children’s Hospital’s Beeghly Campus. It’s one of their signature fundraising events, hosted by a group of volunteers known as the Kids Crew.

There were carolers, basket raffles and a silent auction, all to raise money for the Palliative Care Fund.

“It’s for children who have been diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness,” said JoAnn Stock, Director of Development at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. “We provide wrap around services to not only help the child through the illness, but help their family as well.

More than 350 guests attended today’s event.
