Firefighters promoted in Youngstown

Firefighters in Youngstown, Ohio were promoted Friday.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Five Youngstown firefighters were promoted Friday during a ceremony downtown.

Youngstown Mayor John McNally swore in the fire department members with their new titles during a ceremony at Fire Station No.1.

Firefighters Jeoffrey Goodlet and Michael Mahon were promoted to Lieutenant. Paul Morales and David Ferraro were promoted to captains. John Lightly was promoted to Battalion Chief, just one level below fire chief.

Lightly said the city has two battalion chiefs on each shift and they are responsible for managing emergencies.

“The men and woman of the Youngstown Fire Department know what to do in an emergency. I am proud to lead them as we protect the citizens of the city,” Lightly said.

Battalion Chief Lightly has been with the Youngstown Fire Department for 15 years.
