Fatal crash closes Findley Township road

FINDLEY TWP., Pa. (WKBN) – Nicholas R. Furman, 21, of Slippery Rock was killed in a car crash in Mercer County that occurred around 9:30 Friday morning, according to a release from Pennsylvania State Police.

According to the report, the driver lost control and the vehicle spun, sliding 165 feet before crashing into an embankment. The vehicle reportedly continued to spin after the collision and crashed into a group of trees.

Furman was wearing his seat belt, but his air bag did not deploy, according to police.

The driver, Fallon N. Dovido, 20, suffered a severe head injury. A child in a car seat was uninjured in the back seat of the vehicle.

A portion of State Route 258 in Findley Township, Mercer County, was closed for several hours following the crash.

Pennsylvania State Police have an investigation pending.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the road was closed in both directions. The closure was in place from Thompson Road to Courtney Road.

The road re-opened at around 3:00 Friday afternoon.
