Toy drive brings joy to Army families

American Family Insurance hosted a toy drive for children with parents in the Army.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Christmas came a little early for children whose parents serve in the Army.

American Family Insurance held a toy drive on Sunday at the National Guard 838th in Youngstown.

Local businesses and families donated toys, filling the tables with Barbies, Hot Wheels, hula hoops and much more.

Army men and women even got a stocking filled with goodies for themselves.

American Family Insurance says it’s their way of giving back to those who serve our country.

“The absence is felt by the entire family, we know that. The joy is felt by the entire family when the soldier returns,” said Bethanie Meridth, American Family Insurance Sales Producer. “Ultimately it’s about serving the family via the soldier.”

The company is already planning to do another toy drive for Army families next year.
