3 charged with OVI in Boardman checkpoint

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested three people for driving while intoxicated during a weekend sobriety checkpoint, according to a Monday press release from the Mahoning County OVI Task Force.

The release states that police also gave five people court summons for driving with a suspended license during the Friday checkpoint, held at 6809 Market St. in Boardman from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday.

A total of 239 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. There were seven vehicles that were directed into the diversion area for further investigation, and officers doing extra patrols in the area made 36 traffic stops, all according to the press release.

Police also arrested someone for carrying a concealed weapon, three summons for Drug Abuse, three summons for drug paraphernalia and one summons for an open container of alcohol. One driver was arrested for Felony Drug Trafficking.
