Boaters rescued from Mosquito Lake

Boaters were pulled from Mosquito Lake in Bazetta Township, Ohio.

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – An all-night fishing trip on Mosquito Lake took a bad turn early Monday morning for a few fishermen whose boat began to sink.

Three boaters took to the waters about 9 p.m. Sunday to go fishing. They had planned to be on the lake all night and into Monday morning.

About 5:15 a.m., one of the boaters said all the lights went out on the boat and he heard a surge of water, and the 17-foot Crestliner began to sink.

The boaters quickly grabbed their cell phones and called 911.

Emergency crews arrived and found the boat and the fishermen on the south end of the lake, near the dam off of Route 305.

“It was actually interesting because they couldn’t find us. It was really hard to describe to somebody where you’re at on a lake,” Joey Ragliaroli, one of the men who was on the boat, said. “Eventually, they started shining their police lights and stuff and we were still talking to the dispatcher. That’s pretty much how we found each other.”

All three men were rescued and did not suffer any injuries.
