Crews work to control house fire on south side

Crews in Youngstown, Ohio worked to get a fire under control on Rush Blvd.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -Youngstown firefighters acted quickly to get a fire under control at a house on the city’s south side.

Crews were called about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday to the house on Rush Boulevard.

When firefighters arrived, the bungalow-style house had flames shooting through the roof. The crew jumped into action smashing a window and climbing ladders to access the roof.

Once on the roof, firefighters used a chain saw to cut vent holes to clear the house of smoke.

It is believed the house had been vacant for some time.

No injuries were reported.
