Niles teen indicted on murder charges

A ruling is expected on Friday as to whether a Niles teen, accused of the beating death of an elderly neighbor, will have to stand trial as an adult.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) –  A teenager from Niles has been indicted by the Trumbull County grand jury for a murder this past March.

Jacob LaRosa, 16, will face aggravated murder and other felonies charges in connection with the death of his 94-year-old neighbor, Marie Belcastro.

Last month, Trumbull Family Court Judge Sandra Stabile Harwood ruled LaRosa could be tried as an adult for those crimes.

The attack happened just hours after Larosa was released from the Trumbull County Juvenile Detention Center.

If convicted on the charges, he faces a sentence of life without parole.
