Suspect shot after trying to run over Ashville officer during traffic stop

A man was shot by police in Ashville, Ohio after he tried to run an officer over with his car.


PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — An Ashville, Ohio police officer in Pickaway County fired shots during a traffic stop outside the Harrison Township Fire Department Tuesday night.

The Pickaway County sheriff’s office says that the man who was shot attempted to run over the officer with his car, prompting the shooting.

A brief police chase ended on State Route 188 where the suspect crashed his car. Deputies say the man tried to run off on foot, despite having a gunshot wound, but was eventually captured.

The man was taken to Berger Hospital in stable condition.
