WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – If you can help a child in need, the Warren Family Mission wants your help.
The mission is thousands of toys short for its Christmas giveaway Saturday. The mission says that 1,200 kids have registered, but they only have enough toys for 400 children. Unless generous people come forward, the Mission says it could be in danger of breaking a Christmas promise.
The directors of the organization are asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for all ages. That way they can make sure no child goes away empty handed.
Warren Family Mission Public Relations Director Cheryl Parsons said there is a great need in the area, with many families unable to provide gifts for their children this holiday season.
“Their unemployment has run out. A lot of places have closed up. Event the small businesses are shutting down,” Parsons said. “I just think there’s a need for it.”
You can drop off new, unwrapped gifts between now and Saturday at the Mission, which is located at 155 Tod Ave. NW. in Warren.
The distribution will be going on all day Saturday, but families interested in receiving toys should schedule appointments ahead of time.
The organization said it also had nearly 3,000 people come for Thanksgiving dinner. They expect even more for the Christmas meal.
