SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Police arrested two people Thursday morning during drug raids at houses in Farrell as well as Sharon, where they said they seized a large amount of heroin and cash.
Officials with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office arrested Gregory Weidmer and Allen Ward in connection with the raids but have not filed charges as of early Thursday afternoon.
Police reported taking 23.4 grams of heroin, worth more than $2,500, from a house on Federal Drive in Sharon, as well as scales and hundreds of dollars in cash. Weidmer was arrested in connection with that raid.
Mercer County Sheriff Gary Hartman told WKBN that a Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department task force also took part in the raid and performed another raid at a house on Fruit Avenue in Farrell, where they arrested Ward.
The Attorney General’s office is planning to prosecute the cases.
Both Weidmer and Ward appeared before a judge Thursday for their arraignment and are being held on drug charges with a $25,000 bail. A judge declared that both men must prove that their money comes from legitimate sources if they post bond. Both stated in court that they have no source of income.
The men’s next hearing is set for 11 a.m. on Dec. 29.
