BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sharon Quarterback Andrew Tomko was named the 2015 Big 22 Pennsylvania Player of the Year.
The announcement was made at the tenth annual banquet held at Antone’s Banquet Center in Boardman Thursday night.
Tomko piled up 2,701 passing yards and 29 touchdowns on the season. Both of those marks are Mercer County single-season records. On the season, he completed 58.2% of his passes.
In addition, Tomko tallied 804 rushing yards with twelve trips to the endzone.
“Well it’s a great honor. I mean, being in the room with these 22 is an honor in itself. But, to get the award is even a bigger one,” Tomko said. “Every other kid that has won has been a big name, and they’re obviously good on the field. It’s an honor to be a part of that group,” he added.
Tomko helped lead the Tigers to an appearance in the District 10 Championship game.
