Youngstown Police investigating stolen vehicle involved in crash

A police crash on Youngstown's south side led to a crash at the intersection of E. Avondale Avenue and Gibson Street.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Police have not arrested or identified the man driving a car involved in a police chase and crash on Wednesday. But they may have some leads.

The crash happened at 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of E. Avondale Avenue and Gibson Street. A gray Mercury Sable that police were chasing was reported stolen. Police called off the chase, but the car kept going, running a stop sign and crashing into another car.

Two men were injured in the crash. Police said the driver of the gray vehicle ran away limping.

A Youngstown Police report states that in the car a prescription was found filled on December 13.  The car was stolen December 12.

Other items in the car may have also belonged to the suspect.
