Friday night OVI checkpoint announced for Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 9:30 p.m. to midnight Friday in Youngstown.

According to a press release, the checkpoint will take place near the intersection of State Route 193, also called Belmont Ave., near Granada Avenue. The Youngstown Police Department will be assisting with the checkpoint.

The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grants and is designed to catch people who may be driving while drunk or otherwise impaired.

Police will also have extra officers patrolling in the area, according to the press release.
