Paws Place dog park opens in Hermitage

The new dog park in Sharon holds its grand opening and ribbon-cutting.

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – Paws Place, a park where dogs can run and play without leashes, opened Monday in Buhl Park.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday afternoon for the dog park.

For just $25 a year, you can get a membership to the park to let your dog run and play without a leash. You just need to make sure they are up to date on their shots and have a valid license.

So far, 50 dogs are already signed up.

“We walk in the park all the time, and we’re always meeting up with other dogs, and all they want to do is play, and the park hasn’t allowed off-leash play before. So, this is going to be a fabulous, fabulous opportunity,” said Laura Ackley, of Sharon.

The park is fenced in and includes separate areas for small and large dogs. The new dog park will open in Hermitage. All of the money needed to build the park was either donated or raised through fundraisers.

To use the park, owners must first register their dogs. Applications will be available online.
