Lunch with Santa brings Campbell community together

A free lunch with Santa is paid for by Campbell's elected officials and school board.

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Santa Claus was the special guest of incoming Campbell mayor, Nick Phillips, on Sunday.

Every child in the school district was invited to attend “Lunch with Santa,” and nearly 200 showed up.

Santa arrived at the Palermo Center in a fire truck, instead of his sleigh.

As a special treat, the free lunch also included a Valley tradition: the cookie table.

All of Campbell’s elected officials and the board of education paid for the event out of their own pockets.

“If we have events like this and it brings the community together, then we get to interact with people we’ve never met before, and we get to know our neighbors,” said Laura Phillips, Campbell Community Organizer. “That makes for a safer community and that makes for a community that wants to band together.”

Organizers hope to have fundraisers so they can continue to host free parties throughout the year for other holidays as well.
