Students deliver Christmas cards to veterans in Warren

Howland students deliver handmade cards to veterans.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Howland students are doing what they can to make sure that Christmas is still bright for those who won’t be home for the holidays.

Kids from H.C. Mines Intermediate School created holiday cards and hand-delivered them to residents and veterans at Washington Square Healthcare Center in Warren on Sunday.

Washington Square is the only local VA hospital in Trumbull County.

The service project gave students the chance to meet some true heroes.

“We want the veterans and the seniors in the community to know they are remembered this holiday season, and it really is about giving back and remembering what they’ve done for our country,” said Margie Levy of the PTO. “They are the cornerstone of America.”

The PTO at H.C. Mines also spread some holiday cheer by passing out poinsettias that were donated by Bernard’s Garden Center in Warren.
