BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Six years ago, Boardman Township trustees started the process of getting a traffic light installed along South Avenue at McClurg Road. On Monday, it finally will be.
The Mahoning County Engineer’s office will flip the switch to change the light from a blinking yellow one, to alternating red and green.
The new light will also feature a turning arrow for those traveling north on South Ave. who want to turn left onto McClurg. Currently, traffic coming off of McClurg have just a stop sign to get onto South Ave.
With 22,000 vehicles passing through the intersection every day, it became one of Boardman’s most dangerous.
The total cost to replace the light is $230,000, most of which was paid for by a state grant.
