BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Boardman Local Schools Board of Education has chosen a replacement for long time superintendent Frank Lazzeri.

The school board unanimously approved current Director of Operations Tim Saxton as Boardman superintendent, effective August 1, 2016.

Saxton worked as the Boardman High School principal for 11 years before taking his current position as director of operations in August of 2013. As operations director, he has been instrumental in planning and fundraising for the new Spartan Football Stadium, according to a news release from the school district.

Saxton is a 1984 graduate of Boardman High School, and he received his master’s degree from Westminster College.

“I am honored and humbled to be recommended by the Board of Education for this leadership position. I look forward to serving the students, parents and employees of the Boardman Local Schools as we continue and expand the outstanding tradition of being a Boardman Spartan,” said Saxton.

Lazzeri, who is retiring, has served as Boardman’s superintendent since August of 2004.

“The Board of Education has shown great wisdom in the selection of Tim Saxton as the next leader of the Boardman Schools,” Lazzeri said. “Mr. Saxton and I have worked closely for a number of years and he is more than ready to assume the superintendency. His vision for the future of the district coupled with his intellect and work ethic translate to a sure-fire formula for success. The Boardman Schools are in good hands with Tim.”
