Mill Creek Park Board president resigning

Lou Schiavoni, the president of the Mill Creek Park Board of Commissioners, is calling it quits.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The president of the Mill Creek Park Board of Commissioners is calling it quits.

Lou Schiavoni is stepping down for family commitments and to give more time to his law practice. He said the timing was right with new Park Director Aaron Young on board and the passage of a new levy in November.

Schiavoni said the toughest time during his tenure was when they closed the lakes this past summer.

“There [were] times we had to make some difficult decisions, snap decisions at times, our infrastructure was being threatened,” he said. “Had to make some difficult decisions that caused some controversy, but all in all, the park is a better place.”

He said his accomplishments as board president include fixing up the Lily Pond and hiking trails around the park.
