AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local school superintendent has been presented with a state leadership award.
Austintown Superintendent Vince Colaluca received the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA) Exemplary Leadership Award. The association has 10 different regions around the state, and Colaluca won the award for the northeast region.
What makes the award special is that it was other superintendents who selected Colaluca, said BASA Executive Director Kirk Hamilton.
“They look at the leadership, commitment, service to the profession, mentoring, reaching out in the relationships they have with others, and folks who are very successful in their work,” Hamilton said.
Colaluca was recognized for sustaining and increasing involvement in student programs, such as the College Credit Plus program, in which high school students can earn college credits early.
