Girard’s defense stifles Niles in win

The Indians held high-scoring Kane-Johnson to just 5 points Tuesday.

Girard, OH (WKBN) – The Girard boys basketball team used strong defense and balanced scoring to take down Niles, 59-42 Tuesday at Girard High School.

The Indians were able to shut down senior Cameron Kane-Johnson, who was averaging over 30 points per game, by holding him to just 5 points on the night. Kane-Johnson did not score until the fourth quarter.

Girard led 32-22 at halftime, and continued their strong play in the second half, stretching their lead to over 20 points. The Indians were led by Anthony Graziano with 15 points, while Julian Berry and Mike Guyer each added 11.

Niles was led by Garrett Pitts with 10 points, while Kane scored a season-low 5.

Girard improves to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the AAC, while Niles drops to 4-3.
