YSU employees’ union distributes gift cards to outreach groups

Youngstown State University employees represented by the Association of Classified Employees passed out gift cards to two outreach organizations on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It is the season for giving, and Youngstown State University employees represented by the Association of Classified Employees are in the spirit.

On Tuesday, the union’s leadership passed out gift cards to help the less fortunate people of the Valley. The money will benefit two groups, which serve people with the basic necessities of life — food, clothing and shelter.

Open Arms Community Outreach received $200, as did the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

“They each have a specific area that they reach into. We thought it best that they would know how to help more individuals in the community,” said Union President Connie Frisby.

The ACE union also contributed to the New Springfield Fire Department’s Secret Santa program this year, which helped four families with Christmas gifts. Frisby said the union tries to support various drives throughout the year.
