Huge sales at Southern Park draw in after-Christmas shoppers

The Boardman mall was packed the day after Christmas.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – It might seem like the Christmas shopping season is over, but the halls of Southern Park Mall in Boardman were filled with shoppers on Saturday, cashing in on day-after-Christmas sales. The main reason shoppers were out was to spend their new gift cards.

Maggie Carolus was spending gift cards with her friends.

“Waiting in line for like, 15 minutes at Victoria’s Secret,” she said.

Even so, Carolus believes it was worth the wait.

Bath and Body Works was having its semi-annual sale. Bins of sprays and lotions were 75% off. Customers were digging through to find their favorites scents.

Robert Defelice says he starts every shopping trip with a coffee and muffin from Gloria Jeans.

“We love being out at the mall. There are so many nice things, a lot of nice people. We just enjoy walking around,” he said.

Defelice says he enjoys seeing the mall filled with people, like it was on Saturday.

“It’s very busy, I am glad to see it. It’s good for the economy. Get people out here, spend their money.”

December 26th is actually one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
