Police warn Sharon residents of phone scam

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Police in Sharon say someone is trying to target people in the city with a phone scam.

The scammers are calling households, pretending to be with Publishers Clearing House.

They’re asking people for social security and bank account numbers.

The scammers say if they’re given that information, they will deposit $5 million into the bank.

Police say Publishers Clearing House does not call prize winners, and any personal information should not be given over the telephone, unless the caller initiated the call themselves.
