Giant squid swims through Japan bay

A giant squid was seen swimming through a bay in Japan.

(CNN) – Incredible video captured a very rare visitor to shallow coastal waters in Japan.

A giant squid, seen in the marina of Japan’s Toyama Bay, was captured on video Christmas Eve.

Normally, the enormous creatures are found only in the deep ocean.

The diver who shot the video estimated the mollusk was nearly four meters long or about 13 feet.

The squid eventually made its way away from the marina and out to sea.

According to the National Museum of Nature and Science, giant squids are known to live 650 meters to 900 meters below sea level.
