Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Bristol Twp.

BRISTOL TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A fatal traffic crash on State Route 45 is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hyde Oakfield Road at 12:45 a.m. Monday.

A pedestrian, 22-year-old Nathan Byler, from Middlefield, was running northwest on Hyde Oakfield Road when he was struck by a van at the intersection of State Route 45, according to State Highway Patrol.

The 2006 Ford Econoline van was driven by 26-year-old Jonathan Pupin, of Warren. Highway Patrol said Pupin was driving northbound on Route 45 at the time of the crash.

Byler was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Highway Patrol said Pupin had minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time.
